The 2nd race of the 2017 TTCF Road Series was run on January 22, 2017. As usual there was a strong field of competitors.
The race was run from Port of Spain to Toco, a more challenging course that the Port of Spain / Couva return used in the 1st race of the series.
The fastest cyclists covered the 95km route in 2 hours 24 minutes. This is an average of over 39.5 kph!
Interestingly, the juniors took three of the four overall finishing positions. This speaks well for the future of cycling!
Sheldon, our sole entrant, managed a 13th place finish! Well done Sheldon.
The 2017 TTCF Road Series kicked off on January 15, 2017. A strong field of eager cyclists placed their bikes on the line to get the year underway. The event was an official qualifier for the National Team heading to the Elite Pan American Road Cycling Championships.
The race was held on a familiar course for many. It was from Foreshore to Couva and back. This is a quite flat course that can be made more challenging by North-East winds.
Our Hummingbirds were solely represented by Sheldon Ramjit. Sheldon was unfortunate to be a part of a five rider crash early in the race. He fell heavily, breaking his handlebar. Despite his injuries and damage to his bike he was able to continue and catch back to the bunch.
